The Bikers Who Care kicked off their season with a successful poker run Sunday. Over a hundred riders from Clarksville, TN and the surrounding area made the 90 mile ride on a beautiful spring day.

The route started from the BWC clubhouse, near Austin Peay University in downtown Clarksville. We took Hwy 13 past the Fairgrounds out of town toward Cunningham. A turn South on 235 brought us to the first stop at Marion Market. We stayed on 235 through Slayden and turned East on 49 past Vanleer and Charlotte to the second stop at Midpoint Market. Third stop was at the Ironhorse Corral in Ashland City at the intersection of 49 and 12. Vern runs a great little motorcycle shop there, he donated some T-shirts for prizes. We turned for home, North on 12 through Henrietta and back to Clarksville for the forth stop at the Last Chance Saloon. Last Chance was also having a swap meet and had a band playing, great timing. Last Stop was the BWC clubhouse where riders gathered around the bar and picnic tables to eat some fabulous deep fried turkey with all the fixin’s and party with old and new friends.

My favorite part of the route was the stretch from Marion to Ashland City, beautiful rolling hills out in the country with some of the best examples of “Twisty Tennessee Two-Lanes” this area has to offer.

As we were winding down the day there was a short rain shower. When the sun came back out an amazing horizon to horizon double rainbow formed over the clubhouse. Couldn’t ask for a more appropriate reminder of why the BWC is here – to raise money for the Dream Factory’s CAMP RAINBOW for seriously ill kids.

The BWC’s main fund raiser is the Leslie W. Watson Memorial Toy Run and Party. This year our 19th annual event will be held September 15-17th.

The BWC would like to thank the businesses and hosts at each stop and everyone who worked to make the run a success. We would especially like to thank the riders and support we get from our brothers in other area clubs – Stuart County Concerned Bikers (SCCB), Christian Motorcyclists Assoc. (CMA), Vietnam Vets, Brothers Too, Concerned Area Bikers (CAB), TN Top Cycles.
